Let's End the Use of Single Use Coffee Cups

Do you know how long the life of a take away coffee cup lasts? It is probably in your life for no longer than 15 minutes, but after you throw it away it outlasts your time on earth.

The fast majority of take away coffee cups cannot be recycled because of their plastic coating that makes them waterproof. Each year over 500 billion single use coffee cups are used and thrown away around the globe. Only 1 out of 400 cups is being recycled. About 200 litres of water are used in the production of one disposable coffee cup and the production of one cup sends about 0,11 kg of CO2 to the atmosphere. Imagine what this does to our environment.

Luckily we can easily take our part in reducing this problem. The first thing we can do is to only buy our coffee at cafés that use recyclable cups. The second and the better option is to take your own reusable cup to your favourite barista. You can get your reusable cup for example at ecoffeecup, made out of sustainable bamboo fibre.
